Stand still and be quiet when a player is on the mat.
Remain behind the mat or, behind the head when it is not your turn to play.Only when the opponent's bowl has come to rest does possession of the rink pass to your team.
Keep to your own rink. Walk down the center of your rink when changing ends.
Be aware of your shadow. Don't let it mask the jack or fall in front of the mat when a player is about to bowl.
Allow the player throwing the jack to have full view of the center line.
Allow the player rolling the bowl to have full view of the boundary markers.
Never criticize your opponent, your own team members or the green.
Pay attention to the game. It can be frustrating for your teammates if they they feel you are not giving your full attention and best effort to the game.
Always appear to be enjoying the game.
A player about to deliver a runner should warn the players at the head and adjoining rinks of yor intentions for safety's sake.
Greet your opponents and team members before each game and congratulate or compliment them at the end of play. Shaking hands before and after a match is part of the fine tradition of the game.
Learn the rules of the game and abide by them.
Be a gracious winner and a good loser.
Before play begins learn the markings of your team members bowls.
Do not move or remove any bowls until the score has been aggreed upon.
The losers of an end should mark the scoreboard.
Keep vocals to a minimum by using hand signals whenever possible.
AFTER the mat has been set ensure that all bowls are placed at least one yard behind and to the right of the mat when facing the jack. This avoids tripping.
Do not drop bowls or jack onto the playing surface.
Wear shoes without heels and a minimum of tread at all times.
